About Pond Pal

Why we built this and what we are trying to do

๐ŸŸ

Good fish care should be accessible to everyone โ€” not just the experts.

Our mission

Pond Pal exists to make fish and aquarium care approachable for everyone. Whether you're setting up your very first betta tank, managing a backyard koi pond, or maintaining a saltwater reef โ€” finding clear and trustworthy answers can be surprisingly difficult.

Forums are full of conflicting advice. Pet store staff vary wildly in their knowledge. And the science behind water chemistry, while not complicated, is rarely explained in plain English.

We wanted to change that. Pond Pal gives every fish keeper โ€” beginner or expert, koi pond or nano tank โ€” access to accurate, friendly, and specific guidance whenever they need it.

Who we help

Pond Pal is built for every kind of fish keeper:

Koi and pond enthusiasts who want to keep their pond water perfect and their fish healthy through every season.

Goldfish keepers โ€” from single fancy goldfish in a home aquarium to outdoor pond collections.

Tropical fish hobbyists keeping community tanks, cichlid setups, planted tanks, and everything in between.

Betta keepers who want to give their fish the best possible life.

Saltwater and reef aquarists navigating the more complex chemistry of marine systems.

Complete beginners who are just getting started and need friendly, jargon-free guidance.

How Pond Pal works

Our tools are powered by artificial intelligence trained on established fishkeeping guidelines, water chemistry science, and best practices from the aquarium and pond hobby community.

When you enter your tank details or water readings, our AI analyzes the information against proven standards for your specific fish type โ€” whether that's the 250-gallon-per-koi rule, betta-specific care requirements, or saltwater reef parameters โ€” and gives you specific, actionable advice in plain English.

We pair these tools with in-depth care guides written to be genuinely useful at every experience level. No jargon walls. No condescension. Just helpful information, clearly explained.

What we recommend and why

When Pond Pal recommends a product โ€” a test kit, a treatment, a piece of equipment โ€” it's because that product is genuinely well-regarded in the fishkeeping community, not because of advertising relationships.

We do participate in affiliate programs including Amazon Associates, which means we may earn a small commission when you purchase something through our links. This helps keep Pond Pal free for everyone. But our recommendations always come first โ€” the affiliate relationship follows, not the other way around.

Always growing

Pond Pal is continuously expanding. We're regularly adding new care guides for more fish species, expanding our tools, and working on features like disease identification, tank journals, and a community space for fish keepers to connect.

If you have a suggestion, a question, or just want to share a photo of your fish, we'd love to hear from you at hello@pondpal.space.
